"Artificial intelligence is the future, not only of Russia, but of all mankind. Whoever becomes the leader in this sphere will become ruler of the world." -Vladimir Putin, 2017
Warbot 1.0 tells the compelling story of the 2033 Sino-American War and the soldiers, AI and autonomous machines that fight it.
It is 2033 and China's neighbors chafe at its heavy-handed efforts to dominate them as Taiwan teeters on the brink of declaring independence. When the newly elected president of the Philippines attempts to eject "guest" Chinese military forces from his country, China launches a high-tech punitive expedition against him as an object lesson for the other nations bordering the South China Sea. As wars often do, the conflict spreads throughout the region and quickly draws in the United States.
While the full weaponization of artificial intelligence, robotics, big data, cyber, and all forms of media will change how this conflict is fought, the nature of war remains the same: a brutal, deadly, and complicated contest of wills by the humans who have to fight it.
Colonel Brian M. Michelson, US Army, Retired, offers readers a fast-paced, meticulously researched, and very human picture of future combat in a battlefield full of deadly new technologies.
"Warbot is a rare book for the way it credibly imagines how human, AI, and autonomous machines will collide on the frontlines of a showdown between the US and China. Michelson masterfully combines military experience with his vision of AI-fueled war." -August Cole
